Verizon Messaging Missing Messages - Verizon Community

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 with the latest updates. I intermittently cannot send or receive group chat messages. When I cannot receive the group chat message I will receive an individual message that says something like "New MMS message to download: size is 2KB, expires on 12/4, 1:48 PM.". When I select to download that message it will never download. It will try to download for a while and then stop.My primary messaging application is Google Hangouts but I have experienced the same problem on the default Android Messages application and the Verizon Message+ application.I have read multiple other threads in the Verizon community forums on this issue that have not lead to a solution (Cannot Send or receive MMS on new Galaxy S5. APN settings locked., Why does my Galaxy S5 only send and receive MMS/Group messages intermittently?, and Re: I just got a new Galaxy S5 on Wednesday and it's been having trouble connecting to the internet,...). I have tried everything suggested by Verizon Wireless Customer Support in those threads. Please do not ask me to try them again. My online research suggests that I should try resetting or changing my APN settings but they are disabled. Please help. In fact, Verizon has also recommended Google Messages as their app of choice as a viable alternative to Verizon Message+ for Android smartphones. As a part of this change, all Verizon-branded Android smartphones will now come preloaded with Google Messages.AdvertisementWhile this move will undoubtedly help Google Messages gain a small number of users from Verizon, there is no denying that the biggest win for Google Messages came after Apple, earlier this year, agreed to opt for Rich Communications Services (RCS). This was a long-demanded move that would let iMessage users seamlessly text with Android smartphone users without losing out on helpful features like reading receipts, typing notifications, and sharing multimedia content.RCS text messaging facility rolled out to iOS users as part of the iOS 18 update, which coincided with the launch of the iPhone 16 series in September 2024.For existing Verizon Message+ users, the switch to Google Messages is a straightforward process. All they need to do is go to the Google Play Store, search for Google Messages, and download and install the app. On the setup screen for Google Messages, users will be prompted to select the app as the default SMS app. With Google Messaging supporting almost all the features that Message+ came with, getting used to the new app will only be a matter of time.Advertisement

I just upgraded my phone to an iPhone from a Samsung. While in the process of setting up my iPhone, I realized I can back up my Samsung phone to the Verizon Cloud app and then download all the data from the cloud onto my new iPhone. When I open the Verizon Cloud app on the Samsung Galaxy s10+ phone, I see this error message that says, "As you requested, access to your Verizon Cloud media storage was removed. Please contact Customer Service... etc, etc".So, I contact Customer Service, they add cloud storage to my account, after I told them it wasn't necessary because I have 600 GB for free with my plan. I force close the Verizon Cloud app on my Samsung, still get an error message. I disable the app, still get an error message.Literally nothing has worked and it's making me furious. The "Move to iOS" app is complete trash and failed at least 9 times which led me to the Verizon Cloud app. Now I'm dealing with this? I'm sooo irritated right now.

OpturaDesign/Shutterstock Looks like it is the end of the road for Verizon's home-grown text messaging app — Verizon Messages. The app, which has been around since 2011, may not have featured in the list of most popular messaging tools, but in its 13 years of existence, it did manage to garner a small, but dedicated user base. The app, which also went by the name Verizon Message+, will be completely shut down by November 7, 2024, the company confirmed on the official FAQ page for Verizon Messages. Even before the day of shutdown, several features of the app will stop functioning as Verizon has confirmed that it has already begun the process of shutting down the app starting October 2, 2024.AdvertisementOnce Verizon shuts down the Message+ app, people will no longer be able to use it to send and receive text messages. The app, which boasted a message scheduling feature, will not be able to send texts scheduled to be sent after November 7. The shutdown of the app also means that it will be removed from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Signing up for Verizon Message+ also gave users access to an email address that ended with the @vmtext.com. These email addresses are also part of the shutdown process, and they will also cease to function once Message+ is discontinued. It is pertinent to note that Verizon Messages wasn't limited to just Verizon customers — anyone with a U.S. mobile number and a compatible smartphone (iOS and Android) could use the app. While the vast majority of iPhone users are hooked on iMessage, for the handful of Android users using it as their primary text messaging app, the shutdown of Verizon Message+ means moving to an entirely new text messaging app.Advertisement Verizon recommends Android users switch

Rlmmhc00n2 We understand your concern with the transition. The entire Message+ platform will be retired mid-2024 in light of the growing popularity of device based texting options. For now you can continue to use Message+ on your device. However, we encourage you and your family to start using the text messaging options on your devices now to ensure a seamless transition for your text messaging needs once Message+ is retired.Update June 2024:These changes are coming to Verizon Messages (Message+):Message+ app Shutdown - On or about June 2024, Verizon will start to shut down the Verizon Message+ app. Once the Message+ app is shut down, you won’t be able to use the Message+ app to send and receive messages.Messaging Web Client Access - The ability to send and receive text messages on Verizon’s website is discontinued as of 12/11/23. Your message history will remain. You can continue to use the Android™ and iOS versions on mobile devices or the Mac® desktop version. We recommend using Google Messages to continue to send and receive text messages in a web browser.Get instructions on how to use Google Messages on your laptop and eligible mobile device at Check your messages on your computer or Android tablet. For iOS mobile devices, you can send and receive messages only through the Message+ mobile app.eGift cards will no longer be available to buy through Message+ after April 2024. You can redeem previously purchased eGift cards after this date.Android users: We recommend switching from Message+ to Google Messages on your Android devices before June 2024. Download Google Messages directly from the Google Play Store if it's not already on your Android device.Note: While we do system maintenance before the shutdown of Message+, other participants in your group texts may see messages with a 588 area code stating that your number has “left the group”.This doesn’t require any action on your part. You can delete or ignore these network notification texts.-Andi
