MediaPortal 2 - Alpha 1 Autumn release - MEDIAPORTAL
MediaPortal 2 up and running with basic features. Basically we designed MediaPortal 2 to be as user friendly and intuitive as possible. This includes using the most common default settings and the possibility to run and use Media Portal 2 without doing lots of configurations. But of course there are a few minor things to consider. If you do not wish or need to use a feature, you may skip that step or section. If you have not installed MediaPortal 2 yet, see Installing MediaPortal 2.After you have installed MediaPortal 2 successfully you need to configure a few things to get full benefit out of your new HTPC system. We recommend to start with the TV Setup, if you want to use the Live TV and Recording features of MediaPortal 2.The configuration of the TV section nearly is identical to MediaPortal 1. So if you like to follow any existing MediaPortal 1 setup guides or tutorials you normally can use them without changes for MediaPortal 2 too. There only is one notable difference. For MediaPortal 2 you don't have to install and configure a full blown SQL server (MySQL or SQLExpress) as you need it for MediaPortal 1. The database handling is done internally by the MediaPortal 2 Server. So you always can skip all database configuration parts of any MediaPortal 1 tutorials when using them for MediaPortal 2. Read more on Setup TV...Once you have finished the TV setup you're ready to configure the "rest" of your MediaPortal 2 System. Opposite. How to play ISO files? (1 Viewer) Thread starter Quirinus Start date September 18, 2010 September 18, 2010 1 0 Home Country Norway #1 HiJust installed Media Portal (1.1.0) for the first time, and I wonder if it's possible to play .iso files? I have adde .iso as an additional extension, so all my iso files do show up in MP. I have also installed Deamon tools (lite), if I mount an Iso file to it MP does play it, but it's kind of impractical to have to manually mount a new file everytime I want to watch a movie...Any suggestions?Never mind! Just didn't look hard enoughFor those who wonder do the following: Config->general->Virtual Drive->check "Automount image files".You need to have Deamon Tools installed.Wow, now I'm really impressed with media portal #2 Hi, and welcome As an alternative to Deamon tools, you can also use Virtual Clone Drive. And yes... MP is impressive... I still learn new tricks it can do - and it is still being thought new tricks (by devs). Users who are viewing this thread Forums MediaPortal 1 MediaPortal 1 Talk

Guide: DVBLink v4 and MediaPortal Guide!*Updated 2012-01-24* (2 Viewers) Thread starter pjotr2k Start date October 13, 2011 #11 How to fix no signal issue:1. Navigate to the DVBLink webserver and go to the media section where you can view and stream your channels. Make sure that transcoding is disabled in options so it will give you a .m3u file. 2. Hover over the "Play" button within the DVBLink webserver and select the "Copy link to clipboard" option. You will see that next to "Client=" there is a long hashtag, copy this code and then do a "Find and Replace" within the DVBLink.Comhem created earlier. Replace all the "Client=AAAAAAAA" with the hastag found earlier, so it will be similar to: "Client=m5ghg15165883838asdas35456146as1d". 3. Scan channels and it should work now. NOTE: Even though channels scan, you will get a "ChannelIsScrambled" error when trying to preview, and when trying to view through MediaPortal EPG the same "Channe is Scrambled" error will apear. One step closer – fixed one issue and another one popped up. Hopefully this will help someone else diagnose further... #12 I was planning to 'upgrade' from WMC to Mediaportal and I'm using DVBLogic TV Source too. Why is it a pain to install the virtual tuners in Mediaportal? I don't understand why DVBLink didn't make a plugin or the support in Mediaportal is better. There are thousands of people using TV Source with WMC, but because Microsoft isn't developing anymore I'm sure a lot want to change Media Center software. #13 I now have installed it without DVBLogic. Works fine, just need to think about something else to stream

MediaPortal Tray Launcher (1 Viewer) Thread starter SolykZ Start date July 27, 2013 #1 Hello! A few weeks ago, I wrote a small utility to allow my remote to start MediaPortal with the big green button. The default utility was not able to do with my remote. My tool is on the plugins repository, and I'd ask you to test it. I'd like to know in which cases it operates, with which remote controls, etc.. Could you help me to improve it, please? Thank you! #2 Hi @SolykZ . somehow you'r post got stuck in moderation queue ... No idea why, but I've now released it. Sorry for any inconvenience Thread starter #3 Hi! No problem, maybe because it was my first post? I don't know. Thank you for having released it! hegu MP Donator Premium Supporter May 16, 2007 16 1 Home Country Sweden #4 I get "file not found" when I try to download.... #5 Maybe we can introduce these changes into the official MP Tray. There was also another unofficial MP Tray mod that added better multimonitor support/work arounds (I think it had a right click tray context menu). Thread starter #6 I get "file not found" when I try to download.... Sorry for the delay, that would be fixed now. Thanks for the report! Moderator #7 #8 If tray is modified it should also support restore MP from tray via remote. Thread starter #9 Hello there! I was aslept yesterday and I forgot to replace the links on the plugins directory too (new domain). That would be *really* fixed, now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, the source code is available on the plugin homepage. If tray is modified it should also support restore MP from tray via remote. I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean. #10 MP Config: [X] Minimize to tray on GUI ExitRun MP, Press Alt+F4 -> MP will minimize into the system trayPressing the MCE button on remote should restore MP from the tray. Then you have to install the full DX9 package (aprox 95 MB, not the 1 MB file, link is above to find) before you can install MediaPortal 2.Read more on Installation Procedure.MediaPortal 2 specific Software requiremensYou need the most current DirectX 9 runtime installed (June 2010).
