How do i get my bookmarks back

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I have been at a loss all day, I cleared my history on Mac to hopefully fix a log in problem I was having, which it did, but now when I go onto Safari, all of the bookmarks I had are now a grey box with the first letter of the name in the box with the exception of a few. I can't figure out how to get the icons back that were there or return the color that was once there. And have stuck with it for years. I'm working still on Opera 12: I did d/l Opera 17, but when I found that Bookmarks did NOT come with it, I quickly uninstalled Op.17 and went back to Op. 12: the bookmarks were my MAIN reason for using Opera. Does anyone know how I can upgrade to the better security of Op.37 without losing my Op. 12 bookmarks (I must have about 2,000 of them; Explorer didn't do this well, Chrome does bookmarks fairly well, but only if fewer than 2,000; haven't figured out Avast Safezone yet).I imagine you younger guys might be laughing at me- fair do- but I am a retired soldier of 44 years service (22½ regular, 21½ reserves), so I am asking if someone can help me. If sync wasn't enabled the Opera's servers don't know what your bookmarks were. I registered an account and logged Opera in it on three devices (laptop, tablet, smartphone). The goal was to synchronize bookmarks favorites and authorization information (usernames and passwords). However, synchronization is disabled. Nothing of what I have on the laptop nothing appears on the tablet or smartphone and Vice versa. I can not understand when a guaranteed authorization in the account what else can be problem with synchronization? On an iPhone passwords are not stored in Safari, they are saved in the Keychain app, which is accessed by Safari and apps. You can access Keychain by going to Settings/Passwords. Another option is to install Chrome, sync it to your Google account, then go to Settings/Passwords/Password Options and check Chrome.
