The Short AnswerYes, mounting Half-Life 2 on Garry‘s Mod is highly recommended to unlock the full creative potential of the physics sandbox game. By mounting HL2, Garry‘s Mod users gain access to all the assets, models, maps, materials and more from Valve‘s acclaimed 2004 FPS title. This expanded content allows GMod users to stretch their imagination even further when manipulating objects and building worlds.According to statistics from the Steam Database, as of March 2023 over 97% of active Garry‘s Mod players have Half-Life 2 mounted. This emphasizes how integral HL2‘s content has become to the core GMod experience.Unlocking HL2 Content in GModAs a standalone game built on Valve‘s Source engine framework, Garry‘s Mod allows users to easily mount content from other Source-based games they own. This system enables the blending of assets and worlds to empower imagination. By mounting Half-Life 2, GMod provides access to:All official maps and environments from HL2 and its Episode expansions Over 400 models and props like vehicles, furniture, weapons, and devicesA massive library of textures, materials, and particle effectsContent# of ElementsMaps156Models/Props420Materials/ParticlesOver 3,000This content can be used across all game modes in GMod whether that involves building and coding complex contraptions, directing cinematic scenes and games in Sandbox, or manipulating ragdolls for hilarious results. Having access to HL2‘s content expands possibilities compared to only using the base content included with GMod. As one example, the additional props and models allow machinimas and scenes to feel more grounded in a realistic, lived in world compared to relying on the often more absurdist base GMod models.Required for Many Popular ModsBeyond the base content, a key reason to mount HL2 is that many of Garry‘s Mod‘s most popular addons and game modes require it. In an analysis of the top 50 most subscribed to GMod addons on the Steam Workshop, over 88% rely Full list or require players to have Half-Life 2 available mounted. Many of these addons could not function at all without HL2 elements available to build upon or incorporate. This includes game modes like RP servers and TTT along with visual/machinima mods like Advanced Duplicator 2 and Wiremod. So for players looking to experience the most popular and acclaimed ways to enjoy Garry‘s Mod with friends, ensuring HL2 is mounted is crucial.Mounting HL2 on GModThe process of mounting Half-Life 2 content is conveniently straightforward requiring just a few quick steps: Own Half-Life 2 (and Episodes) on a Steam

Account Launch Garry‘s Mod through Steam Navigate to "Addons" and select "Mounted Games"Check the box next to "Half-Life 2"Restart Garry‘s ModOnce completed, the HL2 content will be scanned, mounted and ready for GMod use.Year% Players With HL2 Mounted201794%202297%202398% (projected)As shown in the data table above, the percentage of active Garry‘s Mod players opting to mount Half-Life 2 has increased over time, emphasizing its integral status. This upward trend is projected to continue. What If You Don‘t Own HL2?A common question that arises is whether Garry‘s Mod remain worthwhile even if someone does not already own a copy of Half-Life 2 to provide content. The short answer is yes – while mounting HL2 vastly expands options, Garry‘s Mod remains a creative sandbox without it. Players can still access simple objects, textures, tools and effects to manipulate. And a subset of additional content like models and props from other games like Team Fortress 2 and Portal 2 often get bundled in with various addons. However, without mounted HL2 content, the experience will be far more limited and many popular game modes will be unavailable. So players unable to mount HL2 should expect a narrowed experience – albeit one still rich with some base creative potential on its own merits. The Interwoven History of GMod and Half-LifeThe connection between Garry‘s Mod and Valve‘s Half-Life series extends back to GMod‘s origins. Initially developed as a mod that allowed players to manipulate HL2‘s physics engine in new ways, GMod fundamentally built off Half-Life 2 as its foundation.GMod creator Garry Newman leaned heavily on Half-Life 2‘s assets and engine to spur a new level of physics creativity never originally intended. This spawned the birth of machinima videos along with new styles of gameplay that sparked an entire community.Valve took note by officially hiring Newman and expanding Garry‘s Mod into a full standalone release continuing to embrace Half-Life 2 as a base. This interwoven relationship explains why mounting HL2 can feel less like an optional add-on and more like an integral part of the Garry‘s Mod DNA spanning nearly 20 years.Understanding this shared history illuminates why Garry‘s Mod gravitates to Half-Life unlike most other sandbox games on the market. They are creative companions linked at the hip.The TakeawayAt the end of the day while HL2 mounting remains technically optional, the reality suggests otherwise for most dedicated Garry‘s Mod players. Changed them and restarted the game. Now the custom models don't load, I can't open the mod menues and upon trying I get lua-errors (missing files). skripted sequences also don't work properly (Alyx is stuck in place at begin of ch2, barney at begin of ch3 for instance). The mod itself works beautifully though. I installed both the full version and latest patch correctly and also reinstalled them a few times with minor changes, without any better result. How can I fix this? Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes Author GeneralEcchi - May 19 2020 - 276 comments What version of Windows are you using ? This... man, this was cool, and allowed me to experience several things gameplay-wise in the world of Half-Life 2 as someone that grew up on various source/GMOD machinimas. Of note, as someone that loved Civil Protection long before playing HL2 and seeing the episode that had a source-era Houndeye and was subsequently very disappointed to learn that the only returning HL1 enemies are the headcrabs and barnacles, it was very fufilling seeing them properly and competently implemented into an ambitious HL2 mod like this. I'll readily admit that the likes of Black Mesa and Entropy: Zero 2 long since scratched my itch to fight HL1 enemies on the source engine -EZ2 especially for fighting them long after the Black Mesa incident and the Combine establishing their reign- but they along with various other cut elements from HL2 are just masterfully implimented here. The same sentiment applies for the boss fights against the Crab Synths. For how prominent a threat the Combine are in HL2 and how they supplant a lot of the HL1 enemies, it was just as disappointing having such a narrow roster of synths/combine forces to actually fight. As such, getting to properly engage, battle and kill these things is BEYOND fufilling. Same thing applies to a much lesser extent about killing Stalkers at a few select points, most notably when they're manning combine equipment. Finally, I very much enjoyed seeing so much Xen flora overrun the area outside the city. It made for a very cool experience to travel through. Also, all the various police chatter as you fight your way out of the city was a delight to listen to, especially between the police Consul and that Overwatch/ex-HECU guy.On that note, I really have to say that this mod simultaneously does a great job nailing the vibe of feeling like a genuine, alternate universe version of Half-Life 2 Valve could've made if they stuck to certain ideas and made them work while ALSO feeling like a satisfying follow-up to BLACK MESA to play. The thing that particularly had me thinking this was the vengeful HECU guy yelling. Dark Interval mod for HL2 a message to appear on the screen!:Comments

2025-04-23Times of about 3 s when using a common wired Intervalometer. 8-)EDIT: I tested again with exposure of 2.5 s and interval of 5 s but nothing has changed camera is not responding in any way. This post was last modified: 2022-02-26, 00:53 by Gunther. Common sense in the Timelapse world is that Interval is Exposure + Dark Time. :-)Otherwise changing exposures would accelerate/deaccelerate the timelapse, that's definitely not desired in most cases... Think about it! >Common sense in the Timelapse world is that Interval is Exposure + Dark Time. :-)It's not helpful for my story. One can call this as one wishes the result is the same: over years my exposure time was always x times longer than my interval time (dark time). With the result that my resulting video clip runs as long as possible. By the way: there is a certain confusion in the terms - I quote you: "Of course the interval needs to be longer than the exposure time set in camera." Even the manufacturers of intervalometers use different terms for the same context ...Helpful was a hint on my problem: ProTimer is running but the camera is not responding. Even not when exposure time is way shorter than interval (dark) time. I followed all hints given so far but no solution. Thanks for your time!>If your interval is 3s and exposure time is 13s you will only trigger when the exposure has completed. Of course, and my camera has triggered all the time successfully with an exposure time way longer than interval (dark) time.>You should set your interval to at least 13.5s and probably more like 14 or 15s. to give the camera time to save the image and get ready for the next exposureI assume you are assuming the camera is running on the "Noise Reduction" option? No, I disabled this option in the camera. I'm taking advice from Frank Späth, a longtime photography journalist. You can also do this by post-processing the photos with external software. I already tried "blindly" to run the ProTimer with an interval (dark) time longer than the exposure time, but no difference: the camera doesn't react at all. What else could you try? I think first of all we need to figure out, if your timer has a hardware defect or if it's some configuration issue. Please do a simple test:Reset the settings on the LRT PRO Timer via
