I have recently bought the 140 plate from fuse audio. they have a sale on at the moment and I'm looking at preamps to replace my Acustica plugins.Anyone have anything good or bad to say about them?Did the developer work for Black rooster or was it Plugin alliance? he seems to know his stuff and replied to my post in the 140 thread. Just a few of the Fuse plugins I find to be useful and great-sounding:VPRE376VCL373FlywheelVREV140VCL25A...But pretty much any flavor of hardware that he offers (including the free ones!) will be excellent, pro-grade stuff.I'll often go back and forth between the VPRE376, VCL373 and Flywheel with their NEOLD counterparts, V76U73 and Warble... similarly great, a fair bit pricier, and also developed in part by Ray! The Fuse versions are just as high quality (and lower price), they all just offer various flavors or UI differences that I like to play around with. They always seem to sound okay by being veeeery subtle. And when its time to get intense they don't sound right TO ME.I tried a few of their pres, the RCA varimu emu, the Federal and a few others I don't remember, like an old broadcast limiter. On the other hand, I do really enjoy NEOLD plugin, the U2A preserves the low-end in a way that is rare for plugins for example.Go figure, maybe I am just tripping. But most Fuse Audio Labs plugs I tried I ended up liking them but not loving them. I bought VCS-1 (channel strip), VREV-305 (Spring verb), VPRE-562A, and VPRE-376.They sound like 1950. They really do. They are subtle and make a nice alternative to stock DAW (Logic) plugins that are more utilitarian. The sweetness in these plugins is their limitations. Everyone is gonna say that this and that plugin impart a "warm analog vibe" to your audio. You have a ton to choose from. But I think Fuse Audio plugins feel and look right. The knobs, the meters, the stops - you can only go so far. You don't play around with them for endless hours. To me they are the most analog of analog wanna-be plugins.
