Guides/SOLO Speedrun Tactics GuideIntroduction:Hello, I'm Lemon and through this guide I will explain several different mechanics, tactics and useful information in the Folklore Hunter Speedrun. It's important to remember that this game is in early access and as of now, the only hunt is Night of the Wendigo and this guide applies to the map in 0.3b so further updates may make the information in this guide invalid. This guide is generally suited to SOLO runs but mechanics and glitches can be used in multiplayer.Clues:There are eight total clues in the game right now. They are in the form of notes left by past hunters. The collection of all clues is an essential part of the 100% category. The locations are listed on this map: clue is listed exactly where it is on the map with the exception of the cave clue. This clue is further inside the cave in the main chamber behind a large rock. You will find a skeleton lying on the ground.Locations:There are seven locations in the game as of writing. Many of which are essential for all speedrun categories. Each location is found on the map: glitches:There are relatively few glitches in Folklore Hunter as the developer patches them out frequently. As of 0.3b, the most useful glitch for the speedrun would be the Item Duplication glitch. Folklore Hunter Night Of The Wendigo - YouTube

The wendigo is a demonic spirit rooted in Algonquin-based Native American folklore. In some scary stories, this supernatural creature can curse and possess humans, causing them to suffer from cannibalistic urges and psychosis that can never be sated. It’s believed many different individuals can be infected by this single ancient evil, serving as multiple extensions of it. These tales are believed to be the world's first zombie stories. The myth originated as a way to prevent those facing extreme hunger in times of famine from resorting to cannibalism for survival. The Wendigo mythology later morphed into a way to encourage moderation and cooperation within tribes. Anyone guilty of greed or jealousy, or anyone who had ever tasted human flesh, was considered tainted and prey for the beast. Tribes began to appoint Wendigo-slayers-for-hire , and those who were believed to be transforming into a Wendigo would be slain. Photo: The earliest version of the Wendigo legend came from Algonquin-based Native American tribes and describes it as an evil spirit or demonic entity that was able to possess humans and, in some cases, even transform into human beings themselves. Those who had previously been driven to commit cannibalism as a desperate act of self-preservation during a harsh winter could be affected by the evil entity, as could anyone harboring feelings of greed. This malevolent spirit is driven by its insatiable hunger for human flesh, so any human possessed by it would slip into a mindless state like some flesh-craving zombie.Photo: While earlier Native American cultures spoke of the Wendigo as a spirit, eventually, it took on the shape of a physical beast . This beast could also infect a person if that person was tainted by greed or had committed the sin of consuming human flesh. Like the spirit, the creature was able to taint the minds of humans, turning them into a Wendigo and forcing them to constantly crave the meat of humans. The emaciated creature has a stag skull head, sunken eyes, and skin stretched impossibly tight over its bones. This shambling skeletal beast is similar to a zombie not just in its seemingly mindless hunger, but also in its form. It’s strikingly tall yet seems fragile and haggard, falling apart from decomposition as it moves. Photo: Whether in the form of a beast or a spiritual entity, the Wendigo possesses supernatural abilities that make it impossible to escape. Despite its gaunt figure, it is unnaturally large, fast, and strong, with heightened senses and endurance. The Wendigo is a hunter, immune to even the harshest climates. It stalks its prey and can mimic human voices, so its favorite pastime is luring people away from safety and driving them mad deep in the wilderness in order to consume or possess them.Photo: Some say the Wendigo infects its host slowly, tormenting them as it takes over the mind and body. It begins with strange odors that only the target can smell. Then, they are plagued with nightmares, their sanity melting away from their sleep-deprived

Overview[]The Wendigo was a hostile creature that was released during the 2024 Halloween Update: Foul Creatures of the Night on October 28rd. The creature was apart of The Hollow Hunger quest, and which had to be initiated by speaking to Valder Helsvik on Ellesmere Island. The Wendigo would drop a pelt, claws, and antlers which could be used to craft items. The Wendigo was the first event creature ever to be removed from the game after the duration of the event.Location[]The Wendigo was often located at the Depths of Death, Mackenzie Slopes or the Anaktuvuk Shore. In general however, the Wendigo was very often located along the eastern coast of Ellesmere along its forests. The Hunt - Night[] The Blue Mist of the Wendigo. The Wendigo was a powerful beast of which comes out mainly at night and spawns in a blue mist which permeated the creature throughout the hunt. While it was unknown at the time what its health was like, the Wendigo was still incredibly strong. The foul creature was often able to do damage similar to that of a bear at 90 damage being taken away from hunters. The Wendigo had a high jump, with the creature being able to jump high distances of up to a meter or two, catching unsuspecting prey who thought they were safe within high structures or cliffs. The Hunt - Day[] The Yellow Mist of the daylight Wendigo The Wendigo had also came out rarely during the day within the Depths of Death in a yellow mist which permeated the creature throughout the hunt. The Wendigo during the day was equally as powerful as it was during the night, with the cave terrain of the Depths of Death aiding hunters in their fight against the foul creature due to its sharp cliffs and rock walls. However, it was known for the Wendigo to start climbing these rock walls, making it dangerous for hunters at times. Dropped Items[] Dropped Items of a Wendigo Once killed, the beast could be skinned with a knife, dropping the Grey Wendigo Pelt, Wendigo Antlers, and Wendigo Nails upon its death. However, strangely the Wendigo's items drop from the sky instead of from the body itself. The Grey Wendigo Pelt was a pelt obtained from hunting, killing, and skinning the Wendigo. The pelt is a reskinned grey model of the bear pelt and can be used for making the Wendigo Claws. There is little to no other purpose for the pelt otherwise A White Wendigo Antler. A Grey Wendigo Pelt. Wendigo Antlers are antlers dropped after hunting, killing, and skinning the Wendigo from the 2024 Halloween Update: Foul Creatures of the Night. The antlers can be used to make an item of the same name of which can be worn atop of a player's head as seen in the picture on the bottom right. Their variants include: BrownBlackWhiteCrimsonWendigo Nails were nails obtained from hunting, killing, and skinning the Wendigo. The red nails can be used for making the. Wendigo is an enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. It is a headless, ape-like monster that attacks swiftly with basketball-like moves. Wendigos appear in forests around Timber area and atop plateaus in Galbadia (accessible only on Ragnarok). They are most common in the barren areas near Deling City where one may encounter up to two of them at once.Stats[]Battle[]Wendigo uses only physical attacks, some of which are quite powerful and can hurt the entire party at once. Blinding it helps, and it is also susceptible to Sleep. The player can draw-cast Protect to halve the damage taken from its attacks.Wendigo has the rare Steel Pipe item to mug, needed to acquire the Guardian Force Doomtrain.Triple Triad[]Wendigo is a Level 4 Monster Card in Triple Triad used for playing the minigame and for turning into Steel Orb with Quezacotl's Card Mod, which in turn can be used to make Demi spells. Chocobo World[]Enemy Wendigo. The Wendigo appears as a random enemy in Chocobo World at higher levels.
