It`s uncommon since the main purpose of creating a copy of backup is to secure it from data loss on primary repository. However it`s supported. This is true, except since you can't specify extended retention (weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly) on primary backups, we have to resort to making an entirely new second copy on the same repository (very inefficient!), and then using GFS retention on that.With storage prices dropping, I'd think more people (like myself) would want to have this ability. I mean, if the disk space is there, why wouldn't I want to retain monthly and yearly backups?
