Duck! Rabbit, Duck! is a 1953 Merrie Melodies cartoon, directed by Chuck Jones, with story by Michael Maltese, and starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck & Elmer Fudd.Plot[]Daffy Duck is pulling out all signs out of trees that say it is "Duck Season" (just like Rabbit Fire) and tricking Elmer Fudd into thinking it's really Rabbit Season. After Daffy shows Elmer where Bugs Bunny lives, Elmer is about to shoot Bugs. After Bugs convinces him that he a Fricassee Rabbit and needs a license to be able to shoot, Elmer realizes he has no license. Daffy decides to make one for Elmer. Daffy can't make the license, though, seeing as he can't spell fricassee and ask Bugs for help (Bugs add the words "duck" in spelling fricassee) and Elmer ends up shooting Daffy. Each presentation of the sign was accompanied by a brass fanfare of a fox hunting call, and was, of course, followed by a gunshot. Bugs then puts on a duck disguise. Daffy sees him, but forgets himself and shouts "Shoot the duck!" to which Elmer obliges by shooting the nearest duck — Daffy. He finally goes completely insane and convinces Elmer that he is an elk, a fiddler crab, and many more animals. Bugs dresses as a Game Warden. Elmer asks Bugs what season it is. Bugs tells Elmer that is baseball season (Elmer runs after a baseball, shooting at it). Bugs asks Daffy what hunting season is it really. Daffy says it is really Duck Season and hunters start shooting at Daffy, who crawls to Bugs saying "You're dethpicable!"Animal season[]Daffy: Well, I guess I'm the goat. There are no confirmed cases of a half turkey-duck offspring. A tom making with a female duck would likely cause severe harm or death to the duck because turkeys are much larger and more ferocious than even ducks when mating. A drake has a strong sex drive and if there are not enough female ducks, it might be plausible that the drake would attempt to mate with a female turkey. But, it is highly unlikely that a drake could successfully mate with a turkey. It is thought to be impossible for a duck and a turkey to produce living offspring. Interbreeding Duck BreedsCan different duck breeds mate? Nearly any duck breed can successfully mate with another duck breed. Most ducks species descend from the Mallard duck and so are sexually compatible. The offspring will be fertile and able to reproduce, but will often have difficulty finding a mate due to their odd coloring or differences in behavior. Duck! Rabbit, Duck!llltdesqDec 13, 2000Permalink7/10This is a funny short but it's the worst of the three because basically all three shorts are exactly the same thing!!!! What sets them apart is the dialogue and gimmicks. Rabbit Fire had the Joe Besser a/k/a Elephant spoof and Rabbit Seasoning had the clever dialogue. This one in the other hand really doesn't have anything! It just features the basics! The only funny thing about it is Daffy Duck screaming all those different animals and getting shot!TheMan3051Aug 3, 2002Permalink9/10The third in the classic hunting trilogy featuring Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer. The premise is simple but effective. Elmer goes hunting during duck season. Daffy tries to convince him it's rabbit season and goads him into going after Bugs. But, of course, Bugs is too smart for that and points Elmer back in Daffy's direction. It's back and forth throughout the short about whether it's duck, rabbit, goat, skunk, pigeon, or mongoose season! Full of hilarious lines and gags like "fricasseeing rabbit" and "Good heavens! He disintegwated!" This is one of the all-time classics from Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese. Great voicework from Mel Blanc and Arthur Q. Bryan. No matter how many times I've seen this one, it never gets old.utgard14Dec 28, 2014Permalink10/10This is a real "classic cartoon", where you're just waiting for the cartoon-figures to say all their famous lines. It's like this short film is set on repeat, and every time you watch it, you'll laugh more, even higher.I also think, that the beauty of these short movies is that you don't have to analyze them from top to bottom. Instead just watch it!!!!So, If you like short movies, cartoons or you just want to laugh, I can really recommend this.And i can only say one more thing, THAT IS WHY WE LIKE EM'.sune37Apr 10, 2006PermalinkWith duck season in full swing, Daffy has no choice but to turn attention from himself by pretending that it is actually rabbit season. With Elmer Fudd on the hunting trail, Daffy points him onto where Bugs is living, but he finds that Elmer is easily turned back onto Daffy by Bugs.I'm not usually a fan of Daffy where he is greedy and manipulative, as I prefer his manic period much more. However here is one of his best cartoons that I have seen where he is partnered with Bugs in the role of greedy, selfish and untrustworthy sidekick. True to form, Daffy has told Elmer that it's rabbit season and not duck season. As one would expect, Bugs tricks Elmer into shooting Daffy instead. This happens about 10 times in the cartoon and in fact is actually the only joke in the cartoon. However, the more it
