First, Do I need to use a license on the server setup? we are setting up two work stations and a server. We have two license for the work stations and the server will not be used by a user. Second, The server asks for a password with ADMIN, but admin doesnt work, how do I whip the password, we may have had sage on there years ago before me, and I suspect its looking for that password... Hi Mike, before I provide advice I highly recommend contacting Sage support or your business partner if you're not comfortable or don't have experience installing Sage 300 server software. The method for regaining access to the ADMIN account will depend on the version. If you're using Sage 300 2023 PU1 or Sage 300 2022 PU3 (i.e. before security enhancement) or earlier the ADMIN password is stored in the browse.ism file in the SITE subfolder in your Shared Data directory on the application server. Therefore to reset the ADMIN password you could either rename browse.ism to browse.ism.old and then do a repair of System Manager in Programs and Features or re-install system manager, service packs and a run a regacc from the original install media. Alternatively you could do a dummy install of the server software onto a spare workstation then copy the newly created browse.ism file on that workstation's site folder to the site folder on the server. Either of these methods will reset the ADMIN password to 'admin' allowing you to set it to something known. If you've already upgraded to a current version of Sage 300 with the security update, you will need to download and follow the instructions in the readme for the Password Reset Tool. The licensing is based on concurrent users, not servers or workstations. With two licenses you can install Sage 300 on unlimited servers and workstations (as long as you only have one "site" overall) but only two users can log in concurrently.Hope that helps, let us know how you go. Ty, I was able to figure out the password reset etc. I have worked my way to another issue, do the workstations connect directly to the sql data base on the server with Sage database setup? Hi Oscar Gonzalez please don't run Sage 300 "as Administrator" as that will cause a myriad of issues not at least with the Financial Reporter and other areas when interacting with the file system. As Shane - Ascend Business Solutions said, always run Regacc after you install Workstation Setup (I normally log into the workstation as a domain admin, do the install, run Regacc and when finished log out and let the regular user in). If you're having to run Sage 300 "As Administrator" to get it to work then there is a problem with your configuration. With the Share, always use UNC to refer to it and grant Domain Users read/write permissions. If you receive an error with that you can try escalating the permissions until everything works (the newer versions of Sage 300 shouldn't need Full Control anymore) so start with read/write, and then modify permissions if needed.Remember your registry entries for HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL, INC.\ACCPAC\Configuration should be something like Programs = \\\sage\sage300apps SharedData - \\\sage\sage300shared and don't forget your system environment path should be \\\sage\sage300apps\runtime;With older versions of Sage 300 running on Windows 10 and 11 it can help to put a registry entry under HKEY_Current_User for the standard user if there are permissions issues in HKLM. So if problems persist, as the standard user open the Registry and add \\HKCU\Software\ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL, INC.\Accpac\Configuration then add Programs = \\\sage\sage300apps SharedData - \\\sage\sage300shared.If you can't see the Sage 300 path in CMD and can't access the Sage 300 tools like dbload32 (database load) from the Run command as a Standard User then you have a problem with your configuration.Sage 300 Welcome Center - Sage 300 Welcome Center - Sage
Has anyone been able to use Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (formerly Terminal Services) to host a Sage 300 Remote Desktop Server? This would be a single Windows Server with Sage 300 installed on it (SQL database on a separate server) and all Finance users would remote desktop to this server to work with Sage 300. Nobody would have their own physical Sage 300 client machine. We would also install Office 2019 on this RDS server so users could leverage the Office integration within Sage 300. Just wondering if it is possible and has been done before. Thanks in advance! Sure, it works like a charm. I consider running Outlook on there a bit of a security risk, but if you are installing Office so you can use Excel the Financial Report or Sage Intelligence, then no problem. I am using Terminal Services for more than 15 years and is much more efficient way to run Sage 300. As far as Outlook I am not so sure, it is a risk, but possible. In my case physical server works much better that virtual server since 2015 version of Sage.. Sage 300 Updates. Sage 300 Product Update Downloads. Sage 300 Payroll. Download Sage 300 Payroll Updates.
